April Events in Auburn-Opelika

April Fest at Auburn University Hotel
All the beers of Oktoberfest with the delightful weather of spring at the first ever AprilFest Friday, April 22, 2011 from 5- 9pm in the Terrace Room. There will be a selection of craft brewers with small bite pairings by Executive Chef Andrew Litherland and Catering and Special Event Chef Leonardo Maurelli. There will also be LIVE music on the pool deck!

Tickets are $35 and are available at The Hotel at Auburn University Monday-Friday(also at the door day of the event based on availability).

Earth Day Celebration at the Forest Ecology Preserve
Friday, April 22, join the Forest Eco Preserve for a children’s program at 4:30 pm and a raptor release by the Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center at 5:30 pm. No admission charged

30th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Kiesel Park in Auburn
The Easter Egg Hunt is for children ages 12 and younger and will be held at Auburn's beautiful Kiesel Park. Bring your family out, along with the biggest Easter Basket you can find, to participate in Auburn's largest Easter Egg Hunt with more than 25,000 eggs hidden over a four-acre area. The event will include live musical entertainment, free sodas, balloons and more. This event is free!

Flashlight Egg Hunt in Opelika on Thursday, April 21
Hunt for Eggs in the Dark!  Bring a flashlight and a basket! Look for special prizes and "rock' eggs!
Age: 3rd - 5th grade. 
Location: Moore Stadium
Time: 7:30 p.m.

Easter on the Square in Opelika Saturday, April 23rd
  • 10:00-10:45 a.m.-Egg-tivities
Children second grade and under will enjoy Easter arts and crafts on the Square! Make bonnets, hats and bunny ears to wear in the Easter Parade, create a sidewalk chalk masterpiece and ride the Easter Express. There will be cotton candy from the Cotton Patch, balloons, face painting, lemonade, visits with the Easter Bunny and more. Great time for all.
                      
  • 10:45 a.m. The Ultimate Parade
Led by The Easter Bunny, The Easter Egg and The Easter Chicken.
 
  • 11:00 a.m. Super Spectacular Egg Hunt
Ages 2nd grade and under. Prize eggs in each area. Over 25,000 eggs to be gathered! Bring your basket!


Auburn CityFest Saturday, April 30 at 9am
The arts & crafts festival is not only known for the spectacular artists and exhibitors, but also for delicious food, family oriented entertainment and a variety of interactive activities for the entire family to enjoy. In year's past, a variety of activities were offered, including a National Guard Rock Climbing Wall, more than 15 inflatables for kids of all ages, the Auburn Fire Department Smoke House, a Children's Art Exhibition, Meet and Greet with the Auburn University SEC Sports Teams, the Story Maker, Gamma Phi Beta Carnival, Cartoon Network Characters, Martial Arts Show, the Charter Communications Trailer and much more. Come to Kiesel Park to enjoy spectacular scenery, exceptional musical entertainment, fine, funky, and hip art in a casual, relaxing atmosphere. Stretch out on the lawn and enjoy non-stop entertainment, or dance to the irresistible sounds, while savoring tasty treats from a variety of our food vendors!

-Saturday, April 16- Get your picture taken with Tiger the War Eagle. Auburn Art, downtown Auburn, will have Tiger and trainer Roy Crowe available for photos at 10 a.m.

Nick Fairley
-Saturday, April 16- Kinnucan's, on the corner of Donahue and S. College Street in Auburn, will have a meet and greet with Nick Fairley! Fairley will sign autographs and take photos with fans from 9-11 a.m. while Darvin Adams will sign autographs for fans in line. Also included at this event is free hot dogs, inflatables for children to play in and much more!

-Saturday, April 16-   A-Day! Gates open at 12 p.m. and the scrimmage game begins at 2 p.m.

A-Day Weekend Things to Do

A-Day is just around the corner for the Auburn University football team and the communities of Auburn and Opelika! This exciting scrimmage will be at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday, April 16 beginning at 2 p.m. For all the information you need to know about A-Day, including ticket sales, visit, http://auburntigers.cstv.com/aday/. Maybe you are one of the lucky winners of our A-Day Weekend Giveaway, or maybe you are heading to the area to get a glimpse of the new Auburn Tigers team! Either way, we don’t want you to miss out on all the area events happening the same weekend as A-Day!

On the Tracks 2010
The 11th Biannual ‘On the Tracks, a food & wine event’ will be held Friday, April 15 in downtown Opelika. Admission is free to the public. However, wine trail tickets are available at www.onthetracks.org. or may be purchased the night of the event. On the Tracks will be April 15 from 6-11p.m. Come out to downtown Opelika, have some fun and get a taste of the town!

Other events include Auburn Softball games vs. Florida on Friday, April 15 at 6p.m. and Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the Jane B Moore Field. Mens Tennis vs. Alabama will take place at the Yarbrough Tennis Center Saturday, April 16 at 5 p.m.

Last but not least, spend your time eating some great food in the Auburn-Opelika area. Be sure to indulge in one, if not all, of our Top 10 Eats Restaurants!
