Stripe the Stadium

ATTENTION AUBURN FAMILY! The Athletic Department is asking fans to help “Stripe the Stadium” for this weekend’s game against Ole Miss! If you’re a true (orange and) blue fan like I know you are, you were ready to stripe the stadium yesterday ... you just didn’t know how to do it. Well, the wait is over and you are in luck! Here is how it is going to happen THIS Saturday in Jordan-Hare. 

Game Plan: Sections 1-2, 5-6, 9-10, 14-16, 29-30, 33-36, 39-40, 43-44, 47-49, 53-56, 60-62, 99-101, 105-108, and 112-114 will be asked to wear orange. Sections 3-4, 7-8, 11-13, 17-28, 31-32, 37-38, 41-42, 45-46, 50-52, 57-59, 102-104, and 109-111 will be asked to wear blue. A diagram is also available for assistance in planning which color to wear to the Stadium.

Cool right? So cool, in fact, that shirts have been made to commemorate the occasion. Click here to purchase the official “Stripe the Stadium” shirt in orange or blue.

The entire student section has been designated a blue section. Students can purchase the official blue shirt at the AU Team Shop on Wednesday and Thursday for a discounted price of $14.99.

As for documenting the occasion, it only seems appropriate to have an ultra-high resolution 360-degree fan photo taken before the start of the game. So in the case you'd be interested in joining 87,000 of your tiger striped friends for ulta-high resolution photo, then I'd suggest getting to your seat a little bit early.

Trick or Treating 

Downtown Trick or Treat and neighborhood trick or treating will both be held the night of Thursday, October 29, due to the Auburn High School home football game on Friday, October 30, and the Auburn University home football game on Saturday, October 31. This change allows Auburn Police Division to focus on the safety of trick or treaters as well as football fans. 27^th Annual Pumpkin Carve

On October 30, The Auburn University Chapter of The American Institute of Architecture Students is hosting its 27th Annual Pumpkin Carve on Friday, October 30, in the newly renovated and re-designed Dudley Courtyard. Pumpkin Carve began as a studio project twenty-seven years ago and has now turned into one of the most celebrated events within the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at Auburn University. Architecture students invite all students, as well as community members of all ages, to gather in the courtyard of Dudley Hall to carve pumpkins. Carving will begins at 9 a.m. The pumpkins will be illuminated and judging will begin at 6:00 p.m. In regards to parking, after 5 p.m., visitors can park in the South Quad Parking Deck on Lem Morrison Drive. and Duncan Drive. Click here for more information about this event.

*Costume Contest: College students, kids, faculty, and visitors are encouraged to come carve a pumpkin in their Halloween costumes. Upon arrival, costume contest participants can take a picture in front of a designated wall. All the photos will be judged and winners will be announced at 7 p.m. Winners must be present to receive a prize.

*Aubie: Aubie will be in attendance at various times throughout the day

*Refreshments: Though hot dogs and hamburgers will be served at lunch, CADC Organizations will be selling snacks, treats, and beverages all day long. 

Pumpkin Patch

If you’re looking for a fun time out with friends or family, Farmer in The Dell Pumpkin Patch is the place for you! At Farmer in the Dell, you can pick your pumpkins right off the vine, enjoy the hay bale play area, pick sunflowers, ride the hay ride, dig in the corn trough, and purchase farm grown mums and raw honey. Haunted Farms/Hayrides

Sleepy Hallow Haunted Farm

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Farm will be on October 24, 30 and 31st from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. As of this year, Sleepy Hallow is offering two new attractions: The Haunted Hayride and Haunted Maze. These two, coupled with the Haunted House, will definitely make for one scary night! Those who dare to be scared will also enjoy free hot chocolate and a free petting zoo. Tickets can be purchased online at or at the door. Chick-Fil-A in TigerTown and Chick-Fil-A on Magnolia Avenue will be supplying $5 coupons for the farm, so be sure to pick one up before you come out. Fields of Fear

Grab your friends and loved ones, and come take a ride on a dark and creepy trail in the heart of the Eagle Creek community in Dadeville…if you dare!  What really lurks in the deep hollows of the woods in Central Alabama? Are you brave enough to meet face-to-face with some of the scariest legends in flesh and blood? On your tour, you’ll encounter horrible things that will make your skin crawl and you’ll see things that will be etched in your memory for years to come. Bring someone you can hold tight because when you dare to venture down the Fields of Fear Hayride, the last thing you want is to be alone. Pope’s Haunted Farm

This haunted attraction is one of the largest in the southeast! Events include a haunted hayride, haunted barn, haunted forest, and new Zombie Paintball Safari. Over 40 live actors for each event is sure to scare you this year! Open every Friday and Saturday through October 31, from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST, and on Thursday, October 29, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST. Ticket costs vary according to which attractions you want to participate in. One attraction costs $13 and a combination of three attractions costs $30. The Zombie Paintball Safari is $20. Ready for the weekend? Looking for something fun to do? Well, it's Thursday which means I have practically been thinking about the next weekend since, well, Sunday at 8:00 p.m. And since I've been thinking about the weekend, I've been thinking about all of the great events that will be going on over the weekend. It's so nice that Auburn and Opelika have plenty to keep us busy even when our Tigers aren't going to be on the field! Below, I have broken down this weekend's events in different categories: Community, Auburn University Athletics, SpoOky and Arts. Community

An Indian SummerNight

Due to the Toomer’s Corner Revitalization Project the SummerNight Downtown Art Walk will now be held this fall. The City of Auburn, Auburn Arts Association, Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center and Downtown Auburn Merchants will host an Indian SummerNight Friday, October 9 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. in downtown Auburn.  In the event of rain, an Indian SummerNight will be held on Saturday, October 10. This annual event is for local artists and musicians to display their talents, while offering the community a chance to enjoy an evening in the downtown area. Downtown merchants and restaurants will remain open after regular business hours. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to shop, dine and enjoy the downtown atmosphere. Country Nation College Tour featuring Brad Paisley

Auburn is the second stop on Paisley’s "Country Nation College Tour" presented by Zaxby’s. Breakout country artist, Eric Paslay, will join him and kick off the concert at 7:30 p.m., with Paisley headlining at 8:30. Auburn’s Heisman Drive will be closed to the public, but the Stadium Deck will be open beginning at 3 p.m. for pass holders. Public parking lots at the Coliseum, Auburn Arena, Magnolia Avenue and Donahue Drive the Library Deck, the Intramural Fields, South Quad Parking Deck, the Hayfield and the CDV Extension will open at 4 p.m. Tents, coolers, glass bottles, chairs and “saving space” is prohibited. Though all campus alcohol policies will be in effect, food trucks and concessions will be available around the Student Center Green Space, inside the Auburn University Student Center until 8p.m. and at the concession stands located in the Southeast Concourse of Jordan-Hare Stadium. The show will take place rain or shine. In the event of a needed evacuation, Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Auburn University Student Center and Haley Center will be open for assistance.

Beat Bama Food Drive: Please bring canned food donations for the Beat Bama Food Drive. Drop-off locations will be placed around the Green Space. 

Restrooms: Restrooms will be in the Southeast Concourse of Jordan-Hare Stadium and Student Center.

Emergency and/or First Aid: EMTs will be located on the East Concourse of Jordan-Hare Stadium and ambulances stationed on-site will be available.

Auburn University's Green Space is located at 255 Heisman Drive.

Oktoberfest

2015 marks the sixth year of The Hotel at Auburn University's Oktoberfest. For the first three years, the event was held in the intimate setting of our Terrace room and around our pool, allowing for about 150 attendees. Two years ago, the event expanded to its current location in the north parking lot of The Hotel at Auburn University to allow for attendance growth and a larger variety of breweries. This year's event will take place on Saturday, October 10, from 4 - 9 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University. 

Each local, regional and national brewery in attendance will showcase a small selection of beers, giving attendees an opportunity to sample a variety of great brews. Select breweries will also present one-off beers, which are brewed specifically to be served at AUktoberfest.

Returning this year is Homebrew Alley where local homebrewers are given the opportunity to showcase their craft to festival goers. Click here to register for the Homebrew Alley now!

Tickets will be available online starting August 7, at 8 a.m. General admission tickets will be available for $50 at the event. Food tickets can also be purchased for $5 and pre-Sale tickets will be $40.

Auburn Soccer vs Texas A&M

Auburn Softball vs North Georgia

The Auburn Softball team will host North Georgia on October 11, at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Jane B. Moore Field. Admission is free to all fall Auburn softball games. SpoOky 

3rd Annual Haunted Auburn Walking Tour

Descendants of the famous gothic writers Bram Stoker and Edgar Allen Poe are not only great storytellers, they're also Auburn's premiere Paranormal Investigators. Brandon Stoker and John Poe are the founders of Alabama Spectral Investigators. They'll lead you past some of Auburn's most famous haunted locations. You'll learn interesting histories and haunted facts about what has been named the 'Loveliest Village on the Plains'. Donations are appreciated but not required. Tours last approximately 45 minutes. A great pair of walking shoes will soothe your feet as you dress according to predicted weather. Two tours will occur, the first will begin at 7 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m. Plan to meet your tour guides between Auburn's stone eagles located diagonally from Toomer's Corner. Join them for the city's 3rd Annual thrilling October Treat.

"Along the Eastern Road: Hiroshige's Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido"

"Along the Eastern Road: Hiroshige’s Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" features fifty-five revolutionary, color wood-block prints by Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797–1858) depicting the scenic views along the famous “Eastern Road” that linked Edo (now Tokyo) with Kyoto, the ancient imperial capital of Japan. This popular series, known as the "Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido Road," established Hiroshige’s reputation as the foremost artist of the topographical landscape in nineteenth-century Japan. Organized by the Reading Public Museum in Reading, Pennsylvania, this stunning exhibition presents the complete first edition of the Fifty-Three Stations, issued in 1833–34, alongside selected comparative examples from later editions. "Willie Cole: Indelible" 

Willie Cole (American, born 1955) is best known for assembling and transforming ordinary domestic and used objects such as irons, ironing boards, high-heeled shoes, hair dryers, bicycle parts and recycled plastic water bottles into imaginative and powerful works of art. Through the repetition and compounding of single objects to form his sculptures and site-specific installations, Cole imbues new and transcendent metaphorical meaning in his work, often embodying a critique of Western society’s consumer culture. "Indelible" includes a selection of Cole’s paintings, photographs, prints and other works on paper, along with recent unique and limited edition sculptures. His art is represented in numerous private and public collections and museums, including the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
